Call to Worship ...............................  Walter Wallace

Leader:           Before we call, God answers!

People:          Before we fall, God responds!

Leader:            The name of God is our strong protection.

People:           We have help from God's sanctuary and support that cannot be seen.

Leader:            God remembers the sacrifices of our lives.

People:          God longs to fulfill our hearts' desires and provide us with loving favor.

Leader:            We can give out a shout for victory in the midst of the storms.

People:           We can wave the banners of triumph even while the war rages around us.

 Leader:            We are God's anointed.

 People:            We are God's appointed.

Leader:           The strong right hand of God supports us.

People:            There is only one place to be and that is on the right side of the Almighty.

Leader:           Some take security in war weapons; others seek to build monetary treasures on

Earth.

People:            But, our stake is in the Ancient of Days.  That's more than enough!

Leader:           Many will fall at our side; it will seem as if destruction is overwhelming.

People:            Yet we will stand in the strength of the Almighty who answers before we call.

All:                  Most assuredly, our hope is in the Lord God Almighty!

Extract from Pastor J's Thoughts!

... As I consider the tenor of our sixty-eighth anniversary theme that says," The   Key to Our Hope Is in the Lord", the light suddenly appears! What I am experiencing is the reminder that Scriptures so plainly speak if we listen.  "They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.   They shall mount up on wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint".  (Isaiah 40:31) Wait on the Lord!

Over the past sixty-seven years, I am convinced that the accomplishments of our congregation has not been the result of everything coming in crystal clear fashion, but with much thought, sometimes doubt and question, and even during times when it appeared the death of the congregation was near.  But, then God!  And then God!  And after that, God!

The Biblical record is filled with stories of a people in struggle, tremendous struggle.  The people of God always found God most present and powerful in the midst of struggle.  I believe God is very present in the life of GHPC, particularly as we work toward transformation and renewal. Like the valley of dry bones in a state of disjointedness and disconnect, the Spirit of God spoke life and future in and to a people who had no strength, to a people in struggle.  God was their strength.  God is our strength!

My hope and prayer is that in this sixty-eighth year celebration of life for GHPC is that we will each realize that no matter what struggles life presents, our hope is in God.   No matter how disconnected and unsettling your thoughts about your future or the future of this church, remember our hope is in God.  When we have no strength, God is our strength!  The key to our hope is in the Lord! In Christ,               Pastor J
